Kriayt Skill Training Centre

2013 – current

Kriayt Training centre identifies the women that are seeking skills training for income purposes and women that needed a social outlet AND both groups were welcomed!

Women seeking friendship, are usually married and their children had grown and attended full time school, the women had nothing to do during school hours. They were welcomed to attend handicraft classes for hobby purposes, they bring their own materials and pay a small weekly fee that is donated to Kriayt to support other women in need. Women seeking skills for income attend handicraft Classes and successful graduates are given the opportunity to join Kriayt Social Business.

Women’s Health & Social Learning

2013 – current

Over the years we have discovered how interested the women are in learning about different health Issues and social Issues that arise for women and children around the world. In fact with no formal education and it is rare that health topics are taught to women our programs have shared simple yet much needed learning for the women to live easier lives.

Kriayt Early Childhood Development Centre

2017 launches this project and is in the early planning stages. In Nepal children are taught by rote learning which is a model of learning by memory only, no logic skills are used in their learning. Fine motor skills are also not taught to the children when they are young.  We are looking to change that in the first few years with an International early learning program, written to suit Nepali children.

Our mission is to raise the standard in preschool education and introduce children, parents and teachers to global perspectives with the intention of establishing cultural harmony through progressive education.

Teach the Teachers

When we start and run a program we always understand the importance the program is to the people attending for a variety of reasons. But not everyone can get to us to learn, so we teach women to teach, our community Leaders. These are women that take our programs and teach them in different communities. Some of our programs cater to women in far away villages that come to our centre and learn the program to take back to their community. We have taught many health classes to leaders that have gone on to repeat the class many times.

Handicraft Group

Successful women who have graduated from our skill development centre are invited to join our production team. These women make piece rate items and sell them to Kriayt Social Business. Sewing Products are made from upcycled or recycled fabrics from Kurthas or saris. The women cut, measure, draft, design & sew items such as bags, clothing & accessories. This is no easy task at times as most of the women are illiterate. Other women are trained in Crochet using a variety of stitches to form items such – Hats, Slippers and children’s toys. Most patterns are written in tally marks as they do not all read or understand patterns, yet each piece is consistent and of high quality. This is our original group making items that are sold around the world to gain profit to run our social issue programs. Support our group in Nepal to stay in employed work by buying products in our online shop.
